Alluding to those heavy ups and downs of life. A voyage that continually flows into itself. There’s a lot of symbolism going on within this piece. Perhaps we (the people) are the ship setting out to conquer new lands, unaware of what lies ahead. Could that be my favorite animal, the giant squid, lurking beneath? Are sharks feeding ahead? Or is that but a beautiful whale on the horizon saying hello? Those oil rigs appear to be unhealthy but they sure are digging deep to pull out valuable minerals. And there. There’s a rock. Unmoved by the ocean. Still and unchanged. Aspire to be the conquerer of all the waves within.
